چکیده

Data integration helps in manipulating data transparently across multiple distributed databases. The purpose of integration system is to provide a unified global view to the user over various heterogeneous data sources. To answer user queries, a data integration system employs a set of semantic mapping between global and local schema. Such integration has challenges of creation of local and global schema and mappings generation. This paper proposes an approach to address such a data integration system for data sources having heterogeneity in structure and semantics. Here data sources chosen are assumed to be in XML format with different schema General Terms Data integration, ontology, information integration. Artificial Intelligence.

Mapping between heterogeneous XML and OWL transaction representations in B2B integration

XML-based standards have been widely used to enable and ease Business-to-Business (B2B) integration. Examples of standards include cXML, CIDX and ebXML. While these XML-based standards are syntactic, contemporary organizations have available new means to structure their internal data representations using semantic descriptions, such as RDF(S) and OWL. This scenario poses an interesting challeng...

From Program Execution to Automatic Reasoning: Integrating Ontologies into Programming Languages (Keynote)

Since their standardizations by the W3C, the Extensible Markup Language (XML) and XML Schema Definition (XSD) have been widely adopted as a format to describe data and to define programming language agnostic data types and content models. Several other W3C standards such as the Resource Description Framework (RDF) and the Web Ontology Language (OWL) are based on XML and XSD. At the same time, s...

Analysis of business process integration in Web service context

The integration of Web services is a recent outgrowth of the Business Process integration field that will require powerful meta-schema matching mechanisms supported by higher level abstractions, such as UML metamodels. Currently, there are many XML-based workflow process specification languages (e.g. XPDL, BPEL) which can be used to define business processes in the Web services and Grid Computi...

Semantic Integration and Retrieval of Multimedia Metadata

The amount of digital media that has to be actually managed has already become unaffordable without fine-grained computerised support. This requires an extensive use of multimedia metadata. MPEG-7 is the greatest metadata framework created to date but it is based on XML Schemas. Therefore, its does not have formal semantics, which makes difficult to manage, extend and integrate it. Consequently...

Heuristic Approach to Manage Semantic Heterogeneity and Data Inconsistency in Enterprise Data Integration

XML syntax and semantic validations are critical to the correct service transaction specification and service integration based on existing distributed and heterogeneous computing services. Current industry practice of XSLT-based Schematron validation may produce invalid results, and contributes a reusable XML validator component that supports sound integrated syntax/semantic validations and ev...
